Orthodontic braces are one of the most popular methods of treating malocclusion. Adults are usually fitted with a fixed device, which can be associated with some discomfort. Damon’s orthodontic braces help to minimise this and are becoming an increasingly popular solution.
What are Damon Braces?
Damon Braces are self-ligated appliances with modern, high-technology archwires. They have clinically-proven efficiency in quick and easy-to-use tooth repositioning, ensuring a spectacular smile and improving facial aesthetics. Damon devices are equipped with a “passive” sliding mechanism for affixing archwires or brackets, which ensures freer movement without requiring orthodontic ligatures. This solution reduces the friction force and supports the bow, allowing teeth to be moved faster and more comfortably.
Damon Braces vs other braces
Other braces use rubber or elastic ligatures to hold the arch still. This mechanism creates friction and pressure, which slows down treatment. Damon instruments eliminate the need for flexible ligatures. While traditional braces are bound with elastic ligatures, which exert pressure causing gradual movement of teeth, Damon braces use a sliding mechanism. As mentioned previously, this approach moves teeth faster, easier and more comfortably for the patient.
How often will I need to visit the orthodontist?
With most traditional braces, arch-wires are attached to brackets with elastic ligatures. Eliminating ligatures, and therefore friction, allows teeth to be displaced with less force applied, and so wearing the braces is less bothersome to the patient.
This means that fewer visits to the orthodontist will be required, and will provide better visibility of results between visits. On average, using Damon braces allows the patient to skip around 8-10 orthodontist visits that would have been required using traditional braces. This is because arch-wires do not need to be adjusted as often.
How long does treatment take with the Damon System?
Treatment with standard braces requires follow-up visits every 4 weeks, while with Damon braces, follow-up visits are less frequent (every 8-10 weeks).
- Shorter treatment time and fewer follow-up visits – A clinically proven method of treatment that aligns teeth more gently and positively changes the aesthetics of the face, in most cases without extraction and without braces tearing the palatal suture. With the Damon System, the treatment time in most cases is shorter than with typical braces. Shorter treatment times mean fewer visits and a beautiful smile … faster.
- A beautiful smile and a beautiful face – the Damon System uses a unique treatment philosophy that goes beyond straight teeth to create broad, beautiful smiles. This approach to treatment takes into account the anticipated appearance of patients aged 40, 50 and beyond.
- Excellent comfort – Gone are the days when orthodontic treatment caused a lot of discomfort. The Damon System works through a high-tech slip mechanism, in which the reduced pressure on your teeth moves them in a pleasant way to the correct position.
- For all ages – Straight teeth and a beautiful smile can safely increase self-esteem and self-confidence at any age, while improving oral health at the same time.
